It wasn't meant to be a joke. I'm just horrible at European history/geography. You guys have too many small countries/provinces/republics out there. And I did mean location-wise. Not necessarily comparing you to those barbarians.

EDIT: My previous comment was, in fact, a joke. But the comment I made about my comment not being offensive and not knowing if in fact my saying that was offesive, was not a joke. Bottom line: we're cool, yo. XD

But please, accept my most heartfelt apologies, and I appreciate you being so understanding towards this ignorant American.

And I thought the Holocaust never happened. <--See that? That, was a joke.

And you, USA, have one too many states. There was this one chick who was all "OMG. U so lame. U know not ur states." And Europe has other inhabitants than Slavs, you know. Scandinavians, for example. :P

Don't worry about that. Can't really expect anything else from your average American, right? ;D

We do have too many states. We have 2 of some! Virginia, West Virginia, North Dakota, South Dakota, North Carolina, South Carolina...

And you do have Scandinavians. And Danes. And...Flemms? And Poles, and Frenchies, and Anglos, and Saxons, and Aglo-saxons. XD

I'm in a silly mood.

And no, you kinda can't. But you're still lucky we're friends. And that I'm not easily insulted. :)

See? We both have something too many. So it kinda evens out.

Italians. Those bloody Italians. And Greeks. And Romans. Gypsies. Jews. Germans. Estonians. Turks. Name, and there's a good chance we have it. The decaying root of the world that spawned Americans. Chances are, we might be related.

I'm not easily insulted myself, but Russians are kind of a touchy subject for Latvian people (again, with exceptions).

Indeed it does.

You could be a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, lost cousin! I have people from Germany, Ireland, and various other countries on my mom's side. My dad's is from Mexico...so I don't think we'd be related in that sense. ;)

And I can understand the uneasiness. Really I can. I had a friend from Turkey who didn't like for me to listen to System of a Down when I was with her because they were Armenian, and apparently there's some bad blood between those two people.

If we dig really deep? All the people are related. What with being children of Adam and Eve.

We have some radicals like that, too, but I have no problem with listening to Russian music, watching their humour shows, TV series and what-have-you, or interating with Russians. (Um, hello? 40-something percent of our country? Consists of Russians. At my current work? Everyone is/speaks Russian. Myself included (on the speaking bit).) Most of the Russian people I've met? Are really nice people. Only the Russians in politics and other positions of power are complete assholes. And I won't even touch the leaders of Russia. Can we just say "CAN OF WORMS" and be done with it?

See, you go with Adam and Eve, and I'll stick with Olduvai Gorge.

Agreed. No more politics. So what time is it there, anyways? It's 5 PM here. One more hour, and I'm home free!

Actually, I'll go with Latvian myths and say that God and Devil created humans together.

Want it precise? 23:58. That is to say two minutes before midnight.

Oooh, I think I like this myth. Again, I'm off to google! Or...at least I will as soon as I'm done over at [livejournal.com profile] springkink. Soooo much smut! Saiyuki and Bleach and more, oh my!

And I can do military time. Crazy, not stupid. :)

I'm not sure there is an online source for Latvian myths. Or maybe I just haven't looked because I know most of them by heart.

You're a second then. There was this one chick from Denver or wherever the hell she was from originally (same from the above 'u-sukk-cause-u-dunno-ur-states' example) who was plain pathetic with understanding it. Then again, everything that was not native to America (as-she-saw-it), she considered weird (and not the good kind) and stupid. And when I pulled my own examples of typical-American-stuff that I considered weird, she countered with 'ur rong and im rite cuz im american and ur not YAY!!!'.

Well, I'll let you know what the google search turns up. Right after I kill all of the annoying bastards here at work today. No, I will not break the rules just for you, just this once.

The hell? All you have to do is subtract 12. It's amazing what you can learn in books, eh? And I'm the complete opposite. I meet anyone that's from a different part of the world, and I'm asking a bazillion questions. I've just always been fascinated by different cultures and learning new things. I've never thought that my/the American was the the only (or right) way.

Unless you get into some middle-eastern/hindu beliefs that women are lower than dogs. And I get that it's their culture, and I'm not gonna preach at 'em. Doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

Good luck. Here, I'll quote wikipedia just so you know what you're getting yourself into: "Latvian culture, along with Lithuanian, is the oldest surviving Indo-European culture. Much of its symbology is ancient."
Take that, Europe. We're ancient and we were there before you.

Weeell, that one chick was rather self-centered and snobby, so I'm glad she's out of my life for good. See, growing up in a mulitcultural environment made me look at things differently. I don't see things as right or wrong/black or white. I see them as they are.

But women are lower than dogs. They bleed. They are dirty. They are the reason the mankind fell from grace. (See, it's mankind and not 'womankind'.)Their only place is in the kitchen with children. Male children, preferably.

Oooooh. So you're in league with Lithuania, eh? I knew it! How else would you be able to control centipedes!?

And see, I grew up in the Bible belt. With southern baptists. Not cool. But apparently, Jesus saves. Or else. So I'm finding things out on my own. My own mother, though I love her, is still incredibly close-minded.

And are you attempting to start a wank in your own journal?

I get off work in 4 minutes, so if I don't comment for a while, I've gone home and passed out.

Onoez. I haz been found out. *flail*

Close-minded people are everywhere. There's no saying where they'll come at you next from.

Godsforbid, no. (Then again... It would make for an interesting discussion.)
Give me a set of beliefs, a theory, a thinking pattern, a few minutes and I'll be defending it like my life depended on it. I can easily relate to things. I excelled in Philosophy and could shoot down each and every one of my classmates with infallible arguments in discussions.

I see. So goodnight and sweet dreams in case we don't get to talk to each other today.
