Kink memes are really helpful for that. Because it's anonymous you don't have to worry about the quality of your writing or anyone flaming you. It's good practice. :)
One of my problems is that I'm a perfectionist. I can't get myself to post bad quality fic. If there's a typo in there somewhere, I'll agonise about it endlessly. |: Also. There are no good kink memes around anymore. All the good ones go poof~ inexplicably. =/
I've had. You should see my NaNo novel. It's... horrible. :'D The worst one I've had was spelling Sanzo as Sazno. In my summary. I didn't notice it until weeks later when I sent a link to the fic to my friend who was gaga over Saiyuki. Aaaawkwaard.
There was a Saiyuki one that had a lot of awesome writers (somehow they all seem to get the best ones in that fandom), a YGO one that died on page three with 90% requests and very few fic, another YGO one that got f-locked to the host's journal and it was such fail because it had a lot of awesome fic, and then another all-YGO one that died out before even starting properly. I haven't set foot in any other ones mostly because of the troll invasions that I kept hearing about. Ffft, I sound so sheltered now. xD
