I have this distinct feeling of having buried myself with a Thiefship fic which I submitted for a contest. It doesn't live up to my own standards of this pairing. |:
Oh, well. Life goes on.

Speaking of life...
I'm still without a job and with no money to pay for this month's rent. Screwed doesn't begin to cover it. Being a student sucks.

On the bright side of things, I have at least one good thing coming up. I don't remember if I mentioned it in summer, but there was a teaching job that I applied for and got to the point of getting an interview to test my skills - except that they never called me back. Well, they put in another ad just recently and this time they called me. And I'm in! The training is at the end of October though, so that puts a bit of a damper on things because I really need to figure out a way to get money before that, seeing how I'll have to pay for the ticket to and from the city where the training is held - 200 km away from where I life. They will provide a place to stay at, though, which is great.

But I'm still holding up! (Even though I've skipped two weeks of university, spending this time at home, sulking about being such a failure at life.) I'm trying to cheer up though. Really, really trying.

ETA: And then I found out that mom never handed in some paperwork for getting some of the tax money back. All she needed was one extra sheet for them to put on my file and she didn't do it because she thought she needed the number of my bank account - which she didn't, and which she never asked to certify. *head/wall* Goddamnit all.

[livejournal.com profile] nekovampluna; because G is the BAMF of them all.

~~~
G cursed overlooking the rows of enemies blocking his path. This was unexpected, he thought with annoyance, hands stuck in his pockets with the fingers of his right hand curled around a small item Primo had asked him to find. This assignment wasn't supposed to draw such level of attention from the opposing families, and looking at the small army in front of him, he couldn't even discern which family hadn't gathered its men here. Some of them were even from opposing parties, now all gathered here together. And to think that such a small, utterly insignificant artefact had caused such a commotion!
After considering his options, G sighed and closed his eyes briefly. Not counting the Vongola (and especially Primo) awaiting his return, there was also that planned meeting with a wonderfully cheeky barmaid tonight, and he'd be damned if he missed that. Grim determination settling in his facial features, the first Vongola's storm guardian reached for his weapon. He would have to rip through the rows of his opponents in record time to get to both meetings (and then drop a passing-by mention of this in front of Alaude and – maybe – Daemon just to see them fume).
When G had promises to keep, a mere bunch of ragtag delinquents wasn't going to deter him. He was going to show these idiots one hell of a storm, right here, right now. Not, he smirked to himself in satisfaction, that there would be a single survivor to tell the tale.
The quiet Bossu broke Tsuna out of his morose thoughts and made him look back where he saw Chrome standing, a lunch box in hand. She looked hesitant and nervous and Tsuna smiled at her, trying to provide encouragement. It had already been more than a year since she'd joined his guardians (was it really that long, he wondered absent-mindedly; it certainly didn't feel that way), but she'd still retained some of that uncertainty.
"I brought you lunch," she said simply, offering no further explanations. She was a person of few words and didn't speak much around the rest of the family. Not to mention that she looked about to dash because Gokudera and Yamamoto had appeared down the road and were coming this way. Gokudera still hadn't lost some of his suspicion and Yamamoto's friendliness felt suffocating for her; hence, she opted to mostly avoid them and interact with them upon utmost necessity.
"Thank you, Chrome." Smiling, Tsuna reached out and took the package from her hands and the moment it left her, she made to leave, parting with a quick and relieved smile and a small nod. Tsuna sighed. Even though Chrome had improved in her cooking considerably, he was still the only one who dared to eat it. Well, and I-Pin, who had become very close friends with her.
After responding to Gokudera's frantic waving, he opened the box and took out a nigiri – now almost normal-looking. Tsuna bit into it and even though the taste was still a bit off, it was okay. He sampled another one, and tested it with wasabi for the hell of it; that evened out the taste.
What were they, Tsuna wondered grimly, afraid that Chrome was going to poison them all with her cooking? That's what they had Bianchi for.
Shamal sighed, eyeing the company gathered in front of him. When would these people learn? He had already left the active service. He was out of the loop. Out of business. Not connected with the mafia. No connection what. So. Ever. He was a freelance doctor now, travelling the world at his leisure, adoring all the ladies he met on his way – and even more those which he didn't meet.
These ragtag homo thugs, on the other hand, appeared to be quite oblivious to this.
"I could unleash the plague on you," Shamal muttered, feeling annoyed enough to do so. The back-draw to this, sadly, would be quite catastrophic, and the prospect of landing the world – and most notably himself – in such a dire situation was the only thing holding back his eager hand. "But that would kill all the ladies I haven't met yet."
He sighed regretfully.
"Simple ass-kicking will have to do," he decided and stepped forward, figuring that this would also be an amazing opportunity to impress any female onlookers. Women liked bad boys, he smiled to himself in satisfaction. His mood improved even more when he heard the satisfying crack of bones in his opponent's arm.
It wasn't that Shamal was afraid to fight, or that he couldn't fight. He'd already done his share of fighting in all of the previous years. Because of that he'd never had the time to meet a nice girl, to settle down. By now he'd gotten so used to always living in motion that he didn't bother settling down. It was time for him to take it easy, hit on girls, catch up to the years lost to fighting. He didn't even notice the moment he got dragged back into it.
At least Vongola had pretty girls on their side.
He must've said something because I-Pin moaned and pressed closer, whispering something in return, but what it was (what it had been), he couldn't make out. Not that it mattered.
Lambo shifted his position, and she shifted, too; skin against skin, breath for breath, closer, closer still. He wouldn't look at her face, couldn't; not with her cheek pressed against his shoulder. She manoeuvred herself into position and he laughed, low rumble in his throat.
"Needy tail-head."
I-Pin didn't respond, didn't punch him. (Impossible; she'd fall if she let go of his shoulders.)
He groaned, found purchase. "Don't let go."
Mukuro groaned from the power of the blow and veered to the side to dodge the other tonfa coming his way, cloud flames billowing. Not like he stayed behind: illusions were wound tight and he slid in and out of them, striking and missing and striking again. Hibari snarled when the edge of the trident severed yet another lock of hair and charged forward, right into an illusion. Mist flared, dissipated, and formed again.
And then he fell. Down, down, down; but it was an illusion. He never hit the ground. Pain wasn't real.
The boy they had been entrusted with (and this was a total lie – the kid had been shoved upon them), because they were, apparently, the only ones who could handle the 10-year-old with a vengeance on the entire world... Whoever had allowed him to get a katana would regret this, Mukuro thought, dodging around a tree and almost colliding with Hibari. Who, coincidentally, had about as much trouble keeping up with the kid as the illusionist.
"Just like you," Mukuro chuckled, swiping with his trident.
Tonfa shattered a branch in the totally wrong direction. "I'll kill you."
A low furious growl and Hibari was on top again, fists clenched in Mukuro's shirt; their legs tangled. His lip was bleeding and Mukuro had a bruised cheek, but it didn't matter. Weapons had been cast aside a while ago, and so was the majority of their clothing. Mukuro's knee rubbed against his groin and Hibari punched his shoulder, forcing him onto the ground.
"Do you want to die?" he growled, leaning in close to Mukuro's face; breathing hard.
He really hated sakura. Ever since Mukuro, he could not stand the sight of it. One day, being in an especially bad mood, he had ripped apart one of those trees. His clothes had reeked of sakura for weeks after, no matter how many times he had them washed. From that day on, he preferred to keep his distance from them. He made the sakura viewing festival a wonderful excuse to let all of his frustration out on the people who were crowding.
And the girl who tried asking him out forever remembered the peril behind the words "sakura mochi".
It might have been the middle of the day. It might have been the dead of the night. And it might have been Lambo tripping over his own feet. Might have been all I-Pin's fault.
They were on the ground now; clothes scattered all around. I-Pin was on top and Lambo had both of his eyes closed, because she was touching and kissing and his hands were up under her dress shirt. These days, moments like this didn't last. All that mattered was the touch, the kiss, the... oh.
Lambo pulled her close; tightened his grip to not lose her.
